Marilyn Jean Ewing

Marilynn Jean Ewing December 13, 1930 - February 1, 2015 "She lived a good life" Marilynn Ewing passed away on 2/1/2015 after a tough fight with cancer. She fought that battle the way she lived her life, with loyalty, love, kindness and always caring about the important people in her life more than herself. Her beloved children, Steve Ewing, Heather Rometty and Ken Ewing were with her in her final days. Marilynn was the only daughter of Elsie Daigle, one of several heirs of the Fluor family of California. She graduated Anaheim High School and attended Redlands University earning a degree in Music. During college she met Robert Ewing on a beach in Carlsbad, California. Never taking "no" for an answer, she finally caught her strapping beau and the two were married after he completed his military service. They spent 50 happy years together, adopting Steve and Heather, before finally being blessed with a natural child of their own, Ken. Marilynn, together with Robert, developed 4 beautiful properties in Del Mar, California where they resided until Robert\u0027s retirement, when they spent their golden years together in Yavapai County, first in the Village of Oak Creek, then Oak Creek Canyon, and finally in Camp Verde. Upon Robert\u0027s passing, Marilynn continued to reside in Camp Verde in the house that her husband made sure he had provided for her. He loved and cared for her, even in absentia, for over 10 years. The best phrase to describe Marilynn is "one of a kind". There will never be anyone like her. And to that end, the world should be grateful. She possessed qualities that are too rare in the current day. She was loving, tenacious, smart, joyful, loyal and always gracious and kind to all. She is survived by her three children and four grandchildren, Tyler \u0026 Jaryn Rometty, Trevor and Katie Ewing. Marilynn will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, at the Veterans Administration National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek. As her grandson put it, "she got to watch the Super Bowl with Bob". I\u0027m sure she loved every minute of it! We\u0027ll miss you Mom! A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13 in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:30 PM.
